SPECTRUM LASER FAQS

  • Am I a good candidate for Spectrum?

Almost any skin type can receive and benefit from a Spectrum treatment. After a thorough assessment of your skin, your provider will recommend an individualized care plan based on your skin condition, concerns, and aesthetic goals. In some cases, multiple treatments may be recommended for even more dramatic results.

  • What improvements will I see with Spectrum?

Everyone’s experience is different, but most patients have reported:

    • Improvement in appearance of skin tone, texture, and wrinkles
    • Reduction in unwanted dark spots, visible veins, and broken capillaries
    • Less redness related to rosacea and acne
    • Successful hair removal
    • Removal of tattoos without damage to surrounding areas
    • Continued rejuvenated appearance, due to stimulated collagen production
  • How many treatments do I need?

Your overall aesthetic goals and the condition of your skin will determine the number of recommended treatments. If you’re seeking to lift unwanted pigment, you may need a few Spectrum IPL sessions about a month apart to achieve ideal results.

If you’re getting treated for visible veins, you may see best outcomes develop within a few days to a couple weeks after just one treatment. Your provider will be able to assess your progress and tailor your care plan accordingly.

  • Is the treatment painful?

Depending on the results you’re seeking to achieve and the areas treated, you may experience varying levels of tolerability. Your provider will explain what to expect and check on your comfort level throughout your treatment.

  • How long does the treatment take?

Numbing the skin treatment area will take about an hour. The individual procedures (ie, IPL, tattoo removal) each take about 30 minutes to one hour, depending on the number of areas addressed.

  • How much downtime should I expect?

    The noninvasive Spectrum treatment has

few side effects, but redness, swelling, and irritation may occur in the first few hours to days. Your overall “social downtime” will depend on the treatment(s) you get.

Generally, more dramatic outcomes require increased laser energy and may take longer for a full recovery. Be sure to avoid sunlight, apply and reapply sunscreen, and use antibiotic ointments and aftercare products recommended by your provider.
